Permits and Paperwork for a Mississauga Event
This is the part most people worry about, and for a private booking it's usually simpler than expected. Here's what the City actually requires, current as of August 2026.
When a special event licence is required
The licence applies to public events, and to events where vendors sell directly to attendees or where entry is ticketed or requires a donation. If that's your event, the organizer applies — not the caterer. The City lists special event licences at $61.74 per vendor, or $38.52 for City-affiliated groups, with additional fees for events running more than five days. Applications go to Mobile Licensing, and a Mobile Licensing Enforcement Officer may inspect vendors on the day.
Food safety approvals go through Peel, not the City
Food safety for public special events in Mississauga is handled by the Region of Peel Health Department rather than the City. For those events, the organizer submits a Peel Health special event application at least 30 days out, plus a food vendor application for each vendor at least 15 days out. Build that into your timeline — it's the deadline most organizers discover too late.
Events in a City of Mississauga park
Booking a park is a separate process from booking us. The City runs an outdoor community event permit, and for events that include vendors or live elements a City event coordinator is assigned roughly 90 days before the date. If your event is in a park, start with the City first and talk to us early — park bookings need considerably more lead time than a backyard or an office parking lot.
What we need on the day
A clear access lane of roughly 30 feet for the truck. Around 20×20 ft for a full BBQ setup, or 10×10 ft for a single station. No power or water hookup — we bring our own generator, propane and equipment, which is why office parking lots, private property and school fields all work without extra arrangements. We arrive 60–90 minutes before service, run up to a two-hour service window, then take 30–45 minutes to tear down and clean up.

- 2–3 months for weddings and large corporate events
- Add the City's 90-day coordinator window if you're in a park
- A deposit confirms the date; the balance is due on or before the event
Dietary requirements
Halal options are available across all menus. Gluten-free is available on most items, and every roasted corn flavour is naturally gluten-free. Vegetarian and vegan options are standard, and we run nut-free events on request. Tell us when you book and we'll confirm exactly which items work for your group.

Do I need a special event licence for a backyard or office party?
For a private wedding, company picnic or birthday party, the City of Mississauga says no special event licence is required — including when you've paid a caterer to serve food to your guests. Public or ticketed events are different, and the organizer applies for the licence rather than the caterer.
Do you need electricity or a water hookup?
No. We bring our own generator, propane and equipment. We need a clear access lane of about 30 feet for the truck, and that's it.
What does it cost?
$27 per person for one main plus one fun food, $31 per person for one main plus two. Minimum booking is $1,400 total. Coordinator, staff, tents, disposables, setup and teardown are all included in that price.
Can you come to a Mississauga school?
Yes — school fields and lots work well for us, since we don't need any hookups. Schools in Mississauga are served by the Peel District School Board, and each board and school has its own vendor and food-safety requirements, so check with your school administration first and we'll supply whatever documentation they ask for.
How far ahead should I book?
4–6 weeks for most events, longer through June and July. Weddings and large corporate events are best at 2–3 months. If your event is in a City park, add more time — the City assigns an event coordinator roughly 90 days out for events with vendors.
